Marrakech, British Tourists’ Favorite Destination in May

The Brits seem seduced by Morocco’s gentle weather and warm sun in May, when many seek to escape the monotony of their daily life for some exotic foreign destination.
The Mirror ranks Marrakech first on their list, thanks to its proximity, as “the flight to Marrakech from the UK is just under four hours,” states the newspaper. This makes it the ideal destination to escape to over a long weekend.
Marrakech’s warm weather and countless markets charm many tourists. With its flamboyant red houses, it’s very welcoming and easy going people, it is Morocco’s number one tourist destination.
The newspaper cites many landmarks of the city which attract a lot of travellers. From Jemaa el-Fnaa’s enthralling atmosphere, with its delicious food stalls, mysterious palm readers and enchanting snake charmers, to Jardin Majorelle’s contrasting tranquil atmosphere and breathtaking gardens.
Marrakech and many other Moroccan cities are true touristic hubs for many international tourists. The number of tourists visiting Morocco in 2016 reached more than 10 million, contributing to the Kingdom’s GDP with $6 billion of revenue.
